Content
PowerPoint Presentation - The slides are numbers 0 to 10 and then from 10 to 0 for counting back. Also on the slides are number tracks/lines and a robin that you can click and drag to demonstrate hopping back and forth for 1 more/1 less. Whole class plenary.

Activity 1 - 1 more/1 less up to 5 - Children add or cross out the snowman’s buttons and write the number in the space provided.
Practical extension work - using number track and robin to jump to/fro.
Activity 2 - 1 more up to 10 and then extends up to 20 - Children choose a name from Santa’s Good Children List to add 1 more to the various lists on the worksheets and then write the answer.
Extension - Add 2 names to the list to make 2 more and write the answer in the space provided.
Activity 3 - 1 less up to 10 ad then extends up to 20. This time children cross off children on the list so that it is 1 less and write the answer in the space provided.
Extension to 2 less - Children cross off 2 children’s name and then write the answer.
It’s a fun activity as children can read the names on Santa’s list and choose who they want on their list or they can cross off who they don’t want on their worksheet list.

This lovely Christmas-themed resource is on matching sets to numbers and combining/adding together to make a total.
Aimed at: Foundation/Year 1, SEND, ESL students.
It relates to adding groups of objects to make a total 'How many altogether?' and writing the number to represent that group and then introducing the plus and equals sign to complete number sentences - Children still need to count the objects in the set and then work out the total.

This resource is about:-
-Sound and how sound travels to include sound waves, vibrations, pitch, volume;
-The sounds we can make with our voices and what happens;
-How we hear;
-How some animals hear;
-How to get sound from different musical instruments and what happens; and
-The type of listening devices we use to locate sound, stethoscopes, hearing aids etc.

Lesson 1: This is about how we use our voice and the different sounds we make. There is a diagram of how our voice works which includes vibration, pitch and how we need our teeth and tongue to produce sounds.
Activity - children are given a very short text to add vocal sound effects to in their groups - narrator/reader reads the short text (print this off the Slide) and the other children decide on vocal sound effects to add.
Lesson 2:- This is about musical instruments and how we produce sound from them (bang, hit, shake, pluck etc.) and group them into their categories (wind, stringed, percussion)- Grouping Activity sheets and Listening activity.
Lesson 3 - This is more practical and children plan and design their musical instruments. They are given ideas on what to do, e.g. make a guitar from cereal boxes, the handle is made of kitchen towel tube, strings are various sizes of elastic bands etc.
Lesson 4: This is about how we ear.
Children learn about the anatomy of the ear (outer ear, middle ear and inner ear) and how we receive and process sound. They also learn about why we get dizzy (semi-circular canals in our ear is filled with fluid).
There are worksheet activities and listening activities on PowerPoint Presentations.
Lesson 5: This lesson is about different listening devices such as the stethoscope, ear trumpets that were used in the past and versions of it that are used to hear unborn babies. Children - to make ear trumpets and pot telephones learning about how sound travels to the ear via a medium.
Children also investigate sound via different types of cups (sizes, material) and the length of the string).
Lesson 6: This lesson is about how some animals move their ears to hear sounds and locate their prey. - Activities- children work with a partner to complete their worksheets which contain missing words.
Lesson 7: Loud sounds get quieter when you are further away from its source -
All the lessons include information on volume, pitch, vibrations and sound waves.

You can organize a carousel system (different workstations) - so each table deals with a different aspect on sound or you can do a whole class lesson on one aspect of sound week by week, ending the term on a sound carousel for assessment.

Vibration involving moving objects- e.g. children can experiment with a tuning forks and water and ping-pong balls, rice on drums.
Sound and Pitch - e.g. use empty bottles filled with different levels of liquid to produce different pitches and also blow horizontally along the edge to produce sounds similar to wind instruments; and/or experiment with guitar strings –shortening and lengthening the string to produce different sounds;
Listening devices - experiment with different string telephones by changing variables such as type of string and material of cups;
Blocking Out Sound activities- Children can make ear defenders out of margarine tubs packed with different materials or they can wrap the sound source like a buzzer or alarm clock with different materials to see which is best at muffling the sound.
Optional - Musical Instruments - Children can make musical instruments or use the ones they may have made in previous lessons - to adjust how they use it or even make it better - can experiment with various aspects of sound.
Outside activity - How sound gets fainter as you travel further away - Use a sound source like a buzzer.
There are instructions to make a simple balloon drum, a packing tape drum, comb kazoo and a guitar.

This resource is on the theme of minibeasts. The teachers notes explain how each set of loop cards are used and how they are different. It is similar to other loop cards or follow me games but counting minibeasts and revising addition and subtraction.
A fun way to practise reading numbers and counting and reviewing addition and subtraction through listening and speaking. Student learn to read ‘I have’ and ‘Who has?’ to start the game.
The cards can be used in small group sessions or whole class sessions.
**Preparation: Laminate, print off and cut round coloured borders onto card paper. **

Calendar for back to school you can display in early years/KS1 classrooms.
This resource pack contains a blank weather, date and year display poster to be completed each day using the changeable days, date, month, weather card displays.
The words in shadow show where the laminated day, date, month and year should go.
There is space for the weather conditions on the same blank display.
The preview window shows how the display will appear when you complete the blank display poster.
You can also change the weather button background if you don’t want plain white - click on, e.g. the ‘hot’ weather button, go to Drawing Tools then Shape Fill to choose your colour.

This is a reading comprehension for early readers relating to Valentine’s Day. The text contains high frequency words and decodable words. There are 4 questions and a sheet of general questions for the teacher/educator.
Ideal for guided reading and for more able early readers who are confident in decoding words and know some of their high frequency words.
Detailed Teacher’s Notes included.
The teacher’s reading comprehension sheet is in colour and the duplicate sheet is in black and white for the children to follow with their fingers what the teacher is reading.
As a whole group activity or individual work, children answer the questions.
The general question sheet is for teachers to ask questions and for children to say the answers aloud.
